THE BREAKDOWN

ORIGINS

Heaviness. Atmosphere. Reflection.

These elements form the foundation of Chicago alternative metal band Seconds To Serenity. Blending crushing riffs with haunting melodies and introspective lyricism, the band channels themes of grief, isolation, resilience, and self-reckoning into music that is both aggressive and deeply cathartic. Their sound draws comparisons to Breaking Benjamin, Starset, Motionless in White, I Prevail, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, and Three Days Grace.

Seconds To Serenity released their debut full-length album Scarlet in 2013, followed by the Learn To Fly EP in 2015. After several years of silence that left the band’s future uncertain, founding frontman Jake LoGiudice revived the project in 2025 alongside Brian Benischek (guitar), Dana Goggin (bass), and Draven DC (drums). With a darker, heavier, and more focused direction shaped by time and experience, the reformed lineup began releasing new material.

Singles “Bloom,” “The Void,” and “Without You” paved the way for the band’s 2025 full-length album Nexus, released on October 31. Continuing that momentum, the band followed up with their latest single, “Dark Skies,” a brooding and emotionally charged track that blends atmospheric electronics, crushing guitars, and soaring melodies while exploring themes of struggle, perseverance, and finding strength in the face of overwhelming darkness. Together, these releases mark a defining new chapter for Seconds To Serenity.

MUSIC VIDEOS

Dark Skies

“Dark Skies” is a heavy, yet melodic exploration of being trapped in someone else’s narrative. No matter how much you grow or change, some will always see you as the villain—and refuse to acknowledge your transformation. Brooding, intense, and emotionally charged, it captures the frustration and weight of fighting against a story that isn’t yours to tell.

The Void

“The Void” is an intense, harrowing dive into the grip of loss and the relentless cycle of mourning. Dark, introspective, and unflinchingly raw, it captures the sensation of staring into the emptiness of death itself—not as a spiritual concept, but as atangible reality. Heavy yet immersive, the track drags you through the weight of obsession, grief, and the inescapable pull of the unknown.

Without You

“Without You” is an anthemic journey through regret, love, and the fragile ties that bind us. It tells the story of realizing what truly matters only when it’s nearly lost—Emotional, soaring, and heartfelt, the track captures the undeniable truth that life isn’t the same without those who matter most. Filmed at The Forge in Joliet, IL, opening for Keith Wallen, TROY, and Shaman’s Harvest.
