Heaviness. Atmosphere. Reflection.
These elements form the foundation of Chicago alternative metal band Seconds To Serenity. Blending crushing riffs with haunting melodies and introspective lyricism, the band channels themes of grief, isolation, resilience, and self-reckoning into music that is both aggressive and deeply cathartic. Their sound draws comparisons to Breaking Benjamin, Starset, Motionless in White, I Prevail, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, and Three Days Grace.
Seconds To Serenity released their debut full-length album Scarlet in 2013, followed by the Learn To Fly EP in 2015. After several years of silence that left the band’s future uncertain, founding frontman Jake LoGiudice revived the project in 2025 alongside Brian Benischek (guitar), Dana Goggin (bass), and Draven DC (drums). With a darker, heavier, and more focused direction shaped by time and experience, the reformed lineup began releasing new material.
Singles “Bloom,” “The Void,” and “Without You” paved the way for the band’s 2025 full-length album Nexus, released on October 31. Continuing that momentum, the band followed up with their latest single, “Dark Skies,” a brooding and emotionally charged track that blends atmospheric electronics, crushing guitars, and soaring melodies while exploring themes of struggle, perseverance, and finding strength in the face of overwhelming darkness. Together, these releases mark a defining new chapter for Seconds To Serenity.
Nexus is a descent through the circles of human emotion — anger, grief, addiction, loss, and the quiet collapse that follows. Every song is tied to the next, forming a web of cause and consequence, where each moment bleeds into another. It’s a portrait of the cycle we all live in, where pain gives birth to reflection, and reflection leads us back to pain.
